Somewhere in the south of Europe, in the heart of the Balkans, there is a tiny country that has recently begun to fight for the return of tourists from all over the world. Byron himself wrote about it: “When our planet was born, the most beautiful meeting of land and sea happened on the coast of Montenegro” – can you imagine a better recommendation? It is not yet fully discovered, and therefore uncontaminated by the influences and trends of modern tourism. In comparison with Croatia, it is more natural and people seem more friendly and open. Yes, it’s Montenegro. Full of sunshine, wild corners that lure to hide in.
The flagship of the country is the picturesque, surrounded by high mountains, the largest bay of the Adriatic – Boka Kotorska with a coastline of over a hundred kilometers. It is also the largest and deepest fjord in the south of Europe and consists of several smaller pools. The most famous city in the area is the medieval Kotor with a historic old town. The fortifications above the city connect with the fortress of St. Jana, which is a great viewpoint on old Kotor and Boka Kotorska. You have to climb 1426 degrees to get here!
Budva, also called Montenegrin Miami or Dubrovnik in miniature, was hailed as the summer capital of Montenegro some time ago. Located on the Adriatic, it attracts not only attractive prices, but also the richness and variety of forms of entertainment that we can find in it. Suffice it to mention the magnificent citadel, which is part of the massive ramparts surrounding the well-preserved medieval Old Town of Budva. You can enjoy beautiful sea views from it, especially the triangular profile of the islet Sveti Nikola, where vines are grown. Less than 6 km from Budva is probably the most photogenic place in the country, that is, St. Stephen’s Island. It is a rocky island connected to the sandy mainland. Covered with red roofs and winding streets, the island was transformed into a luxury hotel in the 1950s. From now on, only hotel guests have free admission, the rest must pay 5 EUR – but the views compensate the money spent, believe me!
These are just some of the attractions that await you if you choose Montenegro to place your voyages! Ticket already booked?
