Japan is known for its equilibristic wonders not only in the field of architecture or electronics. Some time ago, they amazed the world with a dessert that resembles a drop of rain. Raindrop Cake has instantly become a huge hit on Asian tables, and has recently been storming the US market. Will Raindrop Cake also go to Poland? Who knows … It is worth getting acquainted with this extremely effective dessert.
Raindrop Cake – what is it all about?
Every once in a while culinary wonders appear on the market that delight the whole world. That’s exactly what happened with the invention of a chef with a familiar sounding name, Darren Wong . His jelly-like invention resembles the appearance and texture of a genetically mutated raindrop that has grown to incredible proportions. Was it the effect of some kind of nuclear leakage and Wong was catching such drops directly on the plate? I doubt it.
As it usually happens with brilliant ideas, you come across them by chance, and banal ingredients are used to implement them. Wong and his Raindrop Cake only confirm this rule. Imagine that this jelly-like substance has virtually no sensory qualities – it is indifferent in terms of flavor and taste. In addition, its energy value is zero. Have we found a tasteless perfect dessert that will not be the bane of all women? Interesting…
Raindrop Cake, known in Asia as Mizu Shingen Mochi , is basically based on two ingredients: mineral water and a special gelling agent, i.e. agar. Mizu is served on special plates accompanied by roasted soy flour and some sweetener. Most often it is granulated sugar or syrup on a brown sugar canvas.
The whole has the consistency of a transparent pudding in which you can sink many other additions. However, this treat is quite unstable and delicate in its texture, which is why it should be consumed within 30 minutes, otherwise only a puddle will remain of the effective dessert.
Raindrop Cake: do it yourself
Will Mizu Shingen Mochi aka Raindrop Cake hit the European market with a bang? Will he settle down at Polish tables? Knowing life, this turn of events may take some time, so it’s not worth the wait. Now you can prepare your own Mizu at home to amaze your loved one or your guests.
