The year 2016 is ending with concrete bang! You may not agree, but Vietnam is not only Ha Long Bay! Yes, there are those who give away almost all the money to get there, but all of Vietnam is worth exploring! Did you know that this is where the BIGGEST CAVE IN THE WORLD is located? His name is Hang Son Doong and she is the hero of today’s text!
Hang Son Doong – a well-hidden miracle!
No matter how strange that such a colossus hid from the human eye for so many years. The cave located in central Vietnam was not examined until 2009 (!) By speleologists from the British Cave Research Association. Among the thickets of the jungle of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park on the border between Vietnam and Laos, the cave “peacefully” waited to be discovered until 1991, but for years it was enveloped in a veil of forgetfulness and fear. Apparently, frightening sounds were coming out of the interior, effectively repelling all curious people – as far as the truth, only they know.

The cave stretches for about 9 kilometers. The largest of the chambers is over 5 kilometers long, 150 meters wide and up to 200 meters high. Is it hard to imagine that? Then think that you can easily fit a 40-story skyscraper in Hang Son Doong! It is part of a network of about 150 caves. Interestingly, before Hang Son Doong, the largest cave known to the world was Phong Nha.

Hang Son Doong – admire!
It must be made clear that Hang Son Doong is a real miracle of nature. Thanks to the expedition of British scientists, it was not only possible to laser-examine the size of the cave – they also discovered a river flowing along the bottom. It was she who for years was a terror of daredevils, issuing disturbing whistles, whistles, which were intensified by the acoustic properties of individual walls.

The underground river has drilled rocks for thousands of years, giving the rocks amazing forms and colors. However, her work is not only original shapes. The river also allows the life of unique vegetation, which can grow here thanks to the combination of water and sunlight, entering the cave after the collapse of several rock blocks.

An underground river and dense forest are not the only natural wonders. There were even underground clouds found in the cave. Unnaturally large-sized cave pearls were also discovered here, comparable in size to baseballs. In other places around the world, cave pearls only reach the size of a pea, and sometimes reach the size of a cherry fruit.
You know that the lush and lush green jungle that literally envelops the interior of Hang Son Doong is called the Garden of Eden and is home to bats, monkeys and exotic species of birds. Can you imagine meeting this wealth?

Since 2010, the park authorities have decided to make the cave available to tourists, but only a few hundred entry permits are issued during the year. Admission and stay in the cave are not the cheapest. A week spent inside the world’s largest cave costs $ 3,000. If you’re planning a trip to Vietnam next year, you need to prepare for some restrictions.

The Vietnamese authorities have introduced restrictive restrictions on visiting the cave, which are to apply from 2017. You can only visit it in organized, groups of up to 10 people under the care of local guides and national park guards. Oxalis Adventure Tours has the exclusive right to organize trips to the cave. In 2017, no more than 500 people will visit – the sooner you book your seat, the better!
